Adam Garrett – Learner of the Month – From Trainee to Apprentice in his dream company
Adam Garrett, 17 from Taunton, came to Acacia Training and Development in June 2015 and wanted to become an Electrician. He completed a 2 week Traineeship programme with Motiv-8 South West and Acacia Training, called ‘Fit 4 work’ which enables young people to become more confident and positive about their career choices including presentations and group activities.
After this programme, Adam continued with an Employability training to enhance his CV writing and interview technique skills. The team at Acacia Training organised a placement for Adam with a local electrical installation business, ASM Electrical.
Shane Harrison, the boss from ASM Electrical said about Adam: “He did extremely well on his traineeship placement and he is a great asset for our company and team.”
Due to the effort of the Employability team at Acacia Training, PGL training was then able to offer the Electrical Installation Apprenticeship to Adam so that he could stay on as an Apprentice with ASM.
Adam said about his journey: “Without any of you I would not have been able to do it. I am very grateful for what everyone has done and I could not thank you all enough.”
Acacia Training honoured his achievement with the ‘Learner of the month’ Award for November 2015.
It shows how various training providers and employers can work together to make a person’s dream come true and to pave the way for a success story.
