A dedicated learner of the month November: Rachael Manson at Mount Gould
Rachael became our learner of the month in November
Rachael, 32, was so surprised and happy to receive the Acacia Training and Development award for ‘Learner of the month” in November 2016. She worked for years at the reception at Access Health Care at Mount Gould in Plymouth and wanted to progress in her role. Her employer recommended Acacia and the work-based training to her. She started her Level 2 in Team Leading and is currently working towards the ILM Level 3 Diploma in Management.
Karen, her assessor, nominated Rachael for the award because she works so hard for her Level 3 qualification and nearly gave up. “She overcame difficulties, supported other learners and made exceptional progress and development. She has continued to overcome the challenge to complete her qualification whilst juggling home life as a young mum and working through recent significant changes in the workplace. Rachael has remained resilient to dealing with setbacks and, although at times, simply wished to give up, she has persevered in making steady progress. She is now well on the way to achieving this excellent qualification.”
Rachael said that without Karen and her support, she wouldn’t have got so far. “Karen had faith in me when I didn’t have faith in myself. This qualification is worth-while and I can recommend it to everyone who wants to progress in the workplace and implement new skills. It has opened my eyes for the management role and now I can apply for roles like that and get promoted. I might even do the Level 5 one day when my child is a little older.”
