Employability Skills are important. Our employability tutors are ready to support you. We can help you to build your confidence and learn how to improve your skills to prepare yourself for work. We can help you with your job search, CV writing, time management, team work, interview techniques and we offer introductory courses for specific sectors such as Health and Social Care, Catering, Childcare, Retail or Cleaning.

Subject to eligibility – you will be able to access fully funded training at one of our 3 centres.

If you are a local support agency

We have employability training teams in each of our centres – Plymouth, Exeter and Taunton offering a full range of courses to help job seekers prepare for work.

For agencies that support job seekers – we are happy to discuss your client group individual needs and create learning packages that really hit the spot.

We can train your clients at one of our centres or we can bring the training to your premises.

As well as a full range of employability courses, we also have funding to offer Maths, English and ICT Functional Skills from the lowest entry level right up to level 2.

Adult Social Care – Class Provision (Plymouth)

Duration – One Week training at various locations throughout the region.
Qualification – City&Guilds Level 1 Award in Preparing to Work in the Adult Social Care Sector.
Cost – Free of charge to anyone aged 19 or over and who is in receipt of JSA, ESA or Universal Credit.

Childcare – Class Provision (Plymouth)

Duration – 1 week training at various locations throughout the region.
Qualification – You will receive a NOCN certificate made up for 3 units.
Cost – Free of charge to anyone 19 and over and who is in receipt of JSA, ESA or Universal Credit.

Food Safety Level 2 in Catering – Short Course (Plymouth)

Duration – 1 day training at various locations throughout the region.
Qualification – You will achieve a City & Guilds Level 2 Food Safety in Catering Award.
Cost – Free of charge to anyone aged 19 or over and who is in receipt of JSA, ESA or Universal Credit.

Range £50-70 plus VAT.

Health & Safety in the Workplace Level 1 – Class Provision (Plymouth)

Duration – One Day Course 9.30am – 4.30pm. Courses run throughout Devon & Cornwall.
Qualification – You will gain a NCFE level 1 Award in Health & Safety Awareness.
Cost – Free of charge to anyone aged 19 or over and in receipt of JSA,ESA or Universal Credit.

Hospitality – Class Provision (Plymouth)

Duration – 1 day training at various locations throughout the region.
Qualification – You will achieve a QCF Certificate in Hospitality Industry.
Cost – Free of charge to anyone aged 19 or over and who is in receipt of JSA, ESA or Universal Credit.

New Claims – Job seeking course (Taunton)

Duration – 4 days training at various locations throughout the region.
Qualification – You will achieve a range of QCF Certificates.
Cost – Free of charge to anyone aged 19 or over on 31 August 2014 and who is in receipt of Job Seekers Allowance (JSA) or ESA in the work-related activity group.

Plymouth Work Club

Duration – 2 hours each Tuesday morning (9.00am – 12.00pm)
Cost – Free of charge to anyone aged 19+ and in receipt of JSA, ESA or universal credit

Working as a Cleaning Operative – Class Provision (Plymouth)

Duration – 1 week training at various locations throughout the region.
Qualification – You will achieve QCF Certificates in Cleaning.
Cost – Free of charge to anyone aged 19 or over on 31 August 2013 and who is in receipt of Job Seekers Allowance (JSA) or ESA in the work-related activity group.
