Our dedicated team of eight Programme Managers advise employers on their options for training, qualifications and funding. We can identify training needs and skills gaps within your workforce and recommend relevant business solutions. By helping you to ensure that your employees have the right skills to do the best job we contribute to your own business plan with a combined target of keeping you and your business ahead of the competition. We have a vast amount of experience in working with organisations across the region, delivering business solutions through effective and tailored partnership working.

We are local
We cover the South West of England with centres in Plymouth, Exeter and Taunton and teams based in Wiltshire and Cornwall. We also have an office based in Roche, in Cornwall. Our assessors are also able to deliver courses in other parts of the South West.
Our Traineeship and Apprenticeship Offer
Addressing the skills’ needs of businesses today, we offer a range of Apprenticeships at various levels in the following areas:
- Business Skills and Accounting Levels 2, 3 and 4
- Health and Social Care
- Management and Team Leading
The Apprenticemakers website contains a wealth of information designed to answer questions small businesses may have when considering recruiting an apprentice. A Small Business Guide is available, which provides a simple overview of how to recruit an apprentice and the apprenticeship journey.

Our Subcontracting Partners
We have extended our partnership working to enable a chosen number of small local training providers and employers to access government funding in order to deliver work based learning and specialist training courses. We are proud to be in partnership with:
Chanicool Training Services, Flying Start Nurseries, Gary Henri, and Taylors of Grampound.
Acacia Training and Development is required by the Education & Skills Funding Agency to publish this policy. It explains why we subcontract provision and how we support our subcontractors.
We need your help with Sector Work Academies
We need Employers to engage with our New Care Sector Work Academies, to enable customers to develop their skills and have the opportunity to work in a real environment. Acacia Training and Development, in partnership with demand from Job Centre Plus, runs Academies on a regular basis.
A work academy can last up to six weeks and has three key components:
- Pre employment training – this will be carried out at an accessible location where job seekers will gain knowledge to achieve the Level 1 Award in Preparing to Work in Adult Social Care.
- A work experience placement
- A job interview
Your business could benefit from being part of the Care Academy, it is a flexible programme that could be tailored to meet your recruitment needs, the customers will have the right training and skills developed through your guidance and training. It could even allow existing staff to develop their mentoring, supervisory and coaching skills.
