2. Earn money while you learn
Just like any other member of staff, you do get paid. It is up to the employer how much they want to pay you, as long as it is over the NMW. Currently,
the NMW for an apprentice is £3.50 per hour (April 2017).
Apprenticeships are increasingly recognised as the gold standard for work-based training. Apprentices earn a wage and work alongside experienced staff to gain job-specific skills. They do real jobs for real employers. So you’re paid while you learn. If you are entering work for the first time, you will start earning from day one of your Apprenticeship.
You work towards a work-based qualification. Employers all over the country recognise and value Apprenticeships as they show that you’ve been trained in the skills they need.
3. Get flexible support all the way
Your employer and training provider will make sure you have support. Their job is to ensure that your training fits your personal requirements, offers the skills needed for the job and satisfies national standards. They will also be there to help you through any difficult times and are very flexible with lots of experience.
You will find that many organisations value your skills and knowledge gained from the Apprenticeship and will happily offer you a place.
If you feel that you are now ready to consider doing an Apprenticeship, you can apply online at www.apprenticeships.org.uk
4. You get trained at a workplace in 1 to 1 sessions rather than in a classroom
Every type of Business employs apprentices. If you are not sure what business you would like to do your Apprenticeship with, then please contact us. We also offer Traineeships, so you can find out if the chosen business area is right for you.
Once you have found an apprenticeship, our assessor works with you in the specialist area to achieve your qualification. So instead of sitting in a classroom with many other people, you will earn while you learn and get your 1-to-1 training. Click here to see our current Apprenticeship vacancies.
5. Increase your career chances and earn more money than graduates
Sutton Trust chairman Sir Peter Lampl said: “Today’s report shows that the best apprenticeships offer similar financial security as an undergraduate degree.”
